On May 5, 2024, at 3:43PM 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) and emergency service personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the City of Niagara Falls.

Armed Person Call in Welland Leads to an Arrest and Charges

On May 5, 2024, at 2:49PM 3 District (Welland / Pelham) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of an armed person in Welland.

Detectives Investigating St. Catharines Homicide – Update 1

Further investigation by detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit has led to the identification of a suspect in the deaths of 62-year-old George Mummery and 59-year-old Jennifer Allen.

On Thursday May 2, 2024, at The Village Square on St. Catharines Street in Smithville, at 9:30am, 33-year-old Andrew Mummery of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with two counts of:

• Second-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code

Detectives investigating St. Catharines Homicide

On Thursday May 2, 2024, at approximately 9am, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) Uniform Officers were called to a home in the area of Queenston Street and Lorne Street in the City of St. Catharines.

When they arrived, Officers located the deceased bodies of an adult male and adult female within the home.

The Homicide Unit now has carriage of the investigation, with the Forensic Services Unit currently processing the scene.

Fatal House Fire in Welland

On May 2, 2024, at 11:04am, 3 District (Welland/Pelham) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a fire at a residential home in the area of David Street and Sauer Avenue in the City of Welland. Welland Fire Services, along with police and Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics responded to the scene.
