Public Release – Criminal Impaired Driving Offences – April 29th to May 5th, 2024

In an effort to bring further attention and deterrence to driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, the Niagara Regional Police Service will be reporting the names of those people who are charged with an alleged criminal impaired driving offence in the Region.                   

In addition to being charged, these individuals are also bound by a Ministry of Transportation 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and are prohibited from operating a motor vehicle on a roadway. The public is encouraged to...

Detectives Investigating Motorcycle Collision in Smithville

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at approximately 2:15pm, 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln) uniform officers attended the area of St. Catharines Street and Industrial Park Road in the Town of Smithville for a serious single motorcycle collision.

Investigation revealed an adult male lost control of his motorcycle.  Niagara Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and transported the male to an out of region hospital with life threatening injuries.

Armed Person Call in Welland Leads to an Arrest and Charges – UPDATE 1

As a result of information surrounding the involvement of a firearm, 3 District’s Criminal Investigative Branch assumed carriage of the investigation. Judicial authorization was sought, and a search warrant was obtained. On May 6, 2024, the search warrant was executed at the State Street residence where detectives seized a replica firearm, knife, baseball bat and a bolt action .22 rifle.

As part of Police Week 2024 the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) is proud to announce the kick off of the 4th annual Spring Forward Food Drive.

The Spring Forward Food Drive is led by officers of the NRPS Community Oriented Response and Engagement Unit (CORE).  After three very successful years the Spring Forward Food Drive has collected 51,044 lbs. in food and $35,113.45 in cash/gift cards donations.  Donations have been received from members of the public and businesses.

Suspect Vehicle Wanted in Fort Erie – Update 1 – CHARGES

Since April 7, 2024, officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit have been investigating this matter attempting to identify the driver of the involved motorcycle.  Officers were able to identify a suspect.

On May 3, 2024, officers met with suspect a 20-year-old man from Fort Erie. The now repainted black and grey Yamaha R6 was seized and impounded.

The suspect was charged with the following provincial offences:
