What is the Detective Office?
The Detective Office
investigates criminal cases that fall within the jurisdiction of the
Niagara Regional Police Service. They are a specialized unit of
highly qualified individuals who conduct investigations, arrest
offenders, and prepare cases that deal with criminal offences, missing
persons, sudden deaths, and a variety of other crimes.
To better suit the needs of communities in
the Niagara Region, each District has its own Detective Office.
This allows detectives to investigate crimes occurring within their
individual areas, while working with other units of the Niagara Regional
Police Service and detectives in other Districts. In addition,
members of the Detective Office also liase with other police agencies, Crown
Attorney's Office, Court Officials, members of the Legal Profession,
Coroner's Office, and a number of community groups in relation to their
investigations. At times, members of the Detective Office work on extended investigative
projects and Joint Force Investigations with such law enforcement
agencies as the O.P.P. and R.C.M.P.
